So I haven't updated this blog in quite a while.

One reason for that is life. The main reason is Bumperstickerrant.com

There's just not much point to keeping to seperate blogs for the exact same thing. And I wanted to move to a system where I had a little more control, and could do some things different.

So I think this will be the last post at this address. I plan to leave this blog here, so that everybody can view the past entries. But I really don't think I'll post here anymore.

So please check the above address for any new posts.

Just in time for the 2006 election season, BSR is releasing two new bumper stickers. Both take aim at the political mudslinging that pollutes the airwaves and print media during elections of late.

Let the politicians know that their job is not to flame each other, rather their job is to serve the public interest.

hey! I'm here! thanks for the invite Phoenix, and for letting me be a part of the bumper sticker rant. Since becoming a member here, I have to admit to sticker spotting..reading bumper stickers on cars. Here in australia, bumper stickers are pretty big, most cars have them. So from now on, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for original aussie stickers that you guys may not have seen.

Once again visitor numbers have dropped off. And I'm running out of ideas.

So... since I really want this to be a community site, or more of a community feel than the rule of me. I've decided to ask what you, the visitors, want out of this site.

What is it that would make this a site (and I mean more than just this blog, I mean the whole of it) that you would want to visit more often and participate in.

I always thought that the FSM was fun, and dead on when it came to trying to point out how insane the whole intelligent design thing was. And it's because it still makes me laugh to think about, I decided to post the sticker here.

Now there are times that I try not to get too much into the political side of the bumper stickers, even though they are sometimes the funniest.

Today is not one of those times. I saw this bumper sticker and decided that it was perfect to post today.

Of course this has always confused me. How is it possible to be both pro-life and pro-war?

Anyway, this sticker points out the paradox. Perfect for anybody else who is confused, or just to say that you see the paradox.

Yeah, we all want to forget.

But today's bumpersticker takes a lighter approach to the dot com burst.

It was the reference to the dot coms, along with the obvious lousy t-shirt play that caught my attention with this bumper sticker.

As promised, I am now compiling the poll for the favorite sticker in January. Even more incentive to vote every week is that I know that at least for one week I am the only person who voted. Now ya'll really don't want to have to choose from my favorites when you could be choosing from your own now do you?

The first sticker is from The Kat House. This is a fun sticker that is full of attitude. Perfect for all drivers who are stuck in front of the idiots.

The second sticker is from LookCrazy.com, and expresses well the frustrations of the insanity of everyday life.

iBrake. Another sticker directed at the drivers who are behind you. Do you brake just to see the look on the other driver's face? Then this is the sticker for you.

Somebody said something in a forum yesterday that made me think. No, I'm not going to tell you what was said, but I'll tell you what I realized.

I realized that instead of jut posting the stickers, and a one or two line blurb about them, I need to actually discuss the sticker some. This will accomplish 2 things. It will provide keywords that the search engines can latch onto, and that will mean more traffic.

It should also help bring up the clicks through to the bumper sticker itself. The more targeted click throughs will end up helping to cover the different costs of BSR.

One thing that I'm not as happy about, however, is that sometimes it may get to sound a little like a bumper sticker ad.

What I'll try to do though is return to my original thought when I was starting the rant. To discuss the actual bumper sticker itself, why it was liked or disliked, and maybe even what made me choose it. Hopefully this will encourage more discussion on the bumper sticker, and grow our little community.

Anyway, on to today's sticker:

I came across the ovalstickers.net site today after seeing a cute little smiley face bumper sticker. My original plan had been to post the smiley, and then I saw the Geek bumper sticker. Of course the geek in me said that I had to post it.

Of course on of the things that stands out in this sticker is the simplicity. There are no graphics and no fancy text. But the simplicity is what makes it work, especially given the euro style of the sticker.

Sorry, I've been busy with a couple of things the past few days. I'll get back to posting stickers here in a day or so.

In the meanwhile, I've been playing with the idea of really making a page for BS rant. And here's my question... would it be better to leave this blog where it is and link back and forth, or publish it directly to the domain? right now I'm thinking here is probably better, since it's already linked for everybody, but I wanted to know what ya'll think.

and please lemme know on that other stuff I asked in the last post as well. Thanks.

Welcome to the New Year

So, let's get some housekeeping issues out of the way, and then right back to the stickers.

1. Domain- I'm sure that ya'll know that bumperstickerrant.com points right here. But do we want to do anything more with that. For $2 more per month I can have it hosted under the same account as my domain, and share the space. Or if we want to see how everything works out first with that I can make a subdomain, and point the page there. Just keep in mind that if we go the second (preferable for now) route the addresses along with some other stuff would change later.

2. Forums- There be tumbleweeds growing in those things again. Now that the holidays are over I'm hoping that things will pick up in both places. We've had a few people sign up, but very little conversation in there. And I'm not a stickler that it all has to be about bumper stickers. I made a general discussion area, and I care more about a community feel to this whole thing than I do about being strictly business.

3. Frappr- Still there, still just BS and me. Let's figure out where we all are.

4. Chat- Yes, kinda. When I added a chat room to my page I also added a room for BSR. Just pick the BSR room from the dropdown, and sign in. You don't have to register unless you want to reserve your name. Click here to go to the chat signin.

5. Store- I need to redo the store. I need to change the url to the basic dot com rather than the blogspot addy that it is now. But... I've been tossing around the idea of turning that basic store into a premium one.

But I need your feedback on that, since it does cost about $6/mo. The reason that I would turn it into a premium is so that we can take a more active role in the bumper sticker world. We could actually create our own bumper stickers for sale, and not just have the branded merchandise. I would not be able to do it alone. I'd need you guys to come up with things to put on the stickers, and maybe even do some designing yourselves. The money from the store would go as it was always planned to. First to cover any out of pocket expenses incurred by running the rant, and then to expanding and having fun with the rant.

6. Getting the word out- Thanks all for putting up those buttons. Traffic is still low, however. So any ideas for expanding our little community would be greatly appreciated.

What I'd like everybody to do is go back through the archives and pick their five favorite stickers. Still on Hiatus

Yes, I'm still considering what needs to be done to better Bumper Sticker Rant. But I wanted to interrupt this unscheduled break to let everybody know of a few developments that have happened over the past few days.

Bumper Sticker Rant Forums : Yay. Since I'd been tossing around the idea of forums anyway I went ahead and set these up. Not only does it give all the ranters another place to chat, but I opened up some sections so that the print on demand crowd can post announcements of new sticker designs. I also opened up a seen but not pictured section since most of us stray into the "I saw this great sticker..." line at some point. Now we can discuss it a little better since things like that won't filter down with the new posting here.

Now I'm still open to suggestions for improvements. Either in the comments here or in that dedicated section over in the forums

I also have at least one vote of both pics and for sale images. Let me know what you think.

Finally, I'm not sure how much longer this break will be. Hopefully not too much longer. But I'd really love to have some more suggestions or feedback before starting again. That way the pleas don't get lost in the shuffle.

I am still not seeing good numbers of visitors to the rant. And in fact they are about the lowest they have ever been, roughly 3-5 per day.

I really would like for these numbers to come up. And while I know that won't happen as I take this break, a break allows me to step back from this project and reevaluate what needs to be done to make bumperstickerrant successful.

In the meanwhile I would appreciate any visitors or frequent readers to drop some ideas into the comments.

In particular I'd like to know what you prefer, pictures that I take or images of stickers for sale over the internet.

I'd also like to know if anybody would be interested in some icons to place on their sites that'll link back here. If so I'll make some.

Finallt I'd like to know if there are any features that would make BS Rant better. Keep in mind that not all will be implimented, but I'm looking for ideas here. I would really like to make this a fun site that all will enjoy.

Hi All,

Time for the news for bumperstickerrant.

1. bumperstickerrant.com now exists and points directly here. For now that is all that the domain is going to do, but once my bill comes up for the hosting of phoenixwaller.com I may choose to put bumperstickerrant as an addon domain. If I do that I will be able to put up a lot of other things, chat room, forums, etc. So ya'll have about a month and a half to let me know if you want some of that stuff. If you do, comment here or email.

2. Contributors- Want to contribute? Lemme know. I can't do it all, and the more content we can get, the better.

2a. priority will still be given to pictures of bumperstickers on cars, but other images of bumperstickers will now be accepted including stickers that can be purchased in online stores(see 2b.)

2b. Images that portray stickers that can be purchased will be subject to any applicable affiliate links that I may have.

3. Banners or linking images. Does anybody want them? I'd be willing to try and make up some cool images to scatter over the internet if the interest is there.

That's all that I can think of for now.

Hey all,

So I decided that on the occasions where I haven't been able to get out and get pics for you and if nobody else has submitted any I will probably do what I'm doing today. I will find a pic, probably from a cafepress store, and link to that bumpersticker. If you all like it I can actually introduce this as a regular thing to do, otherwise it'll be pretty sporadic.

When I do this please take the time to visit the store and consider buying the sticker. I'll also try to remember to put the store name in the post title so that you'll know that I'm linking to a place to buy the sticker.
